Near the source of the Danube, the young river carved out the impressive Danube Valley, which ends in Sigmaringen, home of the former German Emperors. Right in the centre of the Danube Valley sits Beuron Archabbey, one of the most important Benedictine Abbeys and a centre of Christian art. The area is dear to me as it is the region I grew up in – if there is a place I might call home, it is probably this area.
